MLB International provided television coverage outside of the United States, using feeds remotely produced by MLB Network. Manager Dave Roberts said Ohtani suffered a subluxation of his left shoulder when he was caught stealing in the seventh inning. “This team has zero quit in it,” Dodgers reliever Blake Treinen said postgame. “If we don’t have the outcome that we want, there are always guys out there picking each other up and challenging ourselves to be better. That’s why we won tonight.”
The 1988 World Series is remembered for the iconic home run by the Los Angeles Dodgers’ Kirk Gibson with two outs in the bottom of the ninth inning of Game 1. The Dodgers were huge underdogs against the 104-win Oakland Athletics, who had swept the Boston Red Sox in the ALCS. Baseball’s top relief pitcher, Dennis Eckersley, closed out all four games in the ALCS, and he appeared ready to do the same in Game 1 against a Dodgers team trailing 4–3 in the ninth.
1903: After two years of discord between the long-established National League and the upstart American League, the two circuits settled their differences and agreed to a postseason series to crown an Interleague champion, a best-of-nine “World’s Championship Series.”
Let us not forget that one of the primary storylines heading into this series concerned whether Freeman would even be available to play, and if so, if his sprained ankle would continue to hinder him. Instead, he’s blasting homers every night and even got down the line quickly to beat out a potential ground-ball double play to bring home another run in Game 4.
“I’ve definitely got to step up, and I’ve got to do my job,” Judge said. “Guys around me are doing their jobs, getting on base, and I’m failing at backing them up. We’ve got to turn it around in Game 3.”
This is of particular import for the Dodgers because Shohei Ohtani, who did at least have a hit on Tuesday night, really does not look like himself this series. That shoulder is obviously bothering him; this has to be the most he has ever grimaced over a two-game span. The Dodgers may need Freeman to hit like Ohtani has all year. Fortunately, so far, he has been.

Re-sale tickets for Game 3 at Yankee Stadium ranged from around $1,500 for seats in the right field bleachers to over $18,000 to sit next to the Yankees’ dugout. Yankee Stadium also had a standing-room-only Pinstripe Pass for more than $1,000 that got you inside and one drink, but no seat.

After consulting with meteorologists and officials, Commissioner Bud Selig decided to stop the game and resume it the next day at the point where the delay had happened.
The Beavers were one pop-up in foul territory away from elimination in Game 2, but they capitalized on a Razorbacks mistake, rallied to force Game 3, and then handed the ball to Kevin Abel. The freshman pitcher threw a complete game shutout, the fourth in CWS history and the first in 25 years.
The Philadelphia weather in 2008 produced two unique artifacts now part of the Hall of Fame collection: Caps with earflaps worn by Rays manager Joe Maddon and the Phillies Eric Bruntlett – who scored the winning run on Feliz’s hit in Game 5.
The last time the Yankees were down 2-0 in the World Series was 1996. Just like this year, that team had broken a 15-year World Series drought but had fallen in the first two contests. The 2024 version is hoping history repeats itself starting tonight.
