“The playoffs, or big games, has kind of always been the only thing I really cared about,” Buehler said in his postgame interview with FOX. “I was kind of awful all year, and I think once you get to the playoffs, the adrenaline, the momentum — I think whatever fear I had about my elbow or trying to throw a certain pitch or whatever kind of goes away because it’s now. https://quimica-ufabc.com/ It’s all go.”

8:40 p.m. — YANKEES SCORE! The Dodgers are beginning to inquire about the bullpen just in time for Verdugo to single and score Volpe, adding another run to NY’s total. The order will turn over with one on and one out.

10:22 p.m. — Judge continues his breakout night with a strong at-bat, getting Graterol into a 3-2 hole before walking behind Soto. Chisholm is on deck having hit a home run already tonight as well, and Roberts makes another mound visit.

9:33 p.m. — Kiké earns the Dodgers first hit of the night on a single to Soto, snatching Cole’s no-hitter. Edman steps up and adds another on a fielding error by Judge, who makes his first mistake of the night. Smith is up with two on and no outs.

Yankees greats Derek Jeter and Paul O’Neill threw out the first pitches for World Series Games 3 and 4 at Yankee Stadium this week. Tonight, the Yankees will turn to another pinstripe great to lift the team before the game.

Game 6 world series

1928: Yankees over CardinalsGehrig and Ruth did the heavy lifting for the Yanks in this series, combining to go 16-for-27 (.593) with seven home runs and 13 RBIs. Ruth ended the series with a bang, crushing three home runs in Game 4 in St. Louis.

• García also became just the sixth player to notch as many as four base hits in a winner-take-all Game 7. Before him, the most recent was Cardinals catcher Yadier Molina in St. Louis’ 9-0 loss to the Giants in the 2012 NLCS. In fact, Molina is still the only player to go at least 4-for-4 in a Game 7.

• Clemens is the only pitcher to have started a Game 7 four times in his career. Amazingly, The Rocket did that for three teams and over a span of 19 seasons. Clemens was just 24 when he tossed seven strong innings to lead the Red Sox over the Angels in Game 7 of the 1986 ALCS at Fenway Park, but he was 42 when he was charged with the loss as the Astros dropped Game 7 of the 2004 NLCS to the Cardinals. In between, Clemens took the ball for the Yanks in the final games of the ’01 World Series and ’03 ALCS.

World series game 1

While 2016’s 22.8 million average viewership is unlikely to be exceeded, an average of 15 million viewers would blow away any recent World Series. Last year’s Rangers-Diamondbacks World Series averaged an all-time low 9.1 million viewers per game, and there hasn’t been a World Series to top 12 million in average viewership since 2019. A 15-million average viewership would rank as the third-highest since 2010, which is impressive given TV viewership for anything but football has dwindled dramatically in the past decade-plus thanks to the demise of cable TV and the rise of streaming services and social media.

The Yankees then brought in Nestor Cortes, who hadn’t yet pitched in the playoffs due to injury. He got Ohtani to foul out on an incredible play by left fielder Alex Verdugo, who fell into the netting. It was a big deal, because him falling into the net allowed the runners to move up to second and third. With a lefty on the mound, Mookie Betts coming to the plate and lefty-swinging/hobbled Freeman coming to the plate, it seemed like an easy decision to walk Betts.

To be fair, last year’s Game 1 was pretty incredible, too, with Corey Seager’s game-tying homer in the ninth leading to Adolis García’s walk-off homer in the 10th, but let’s be real: That series included an 84-win Diamondbacks team. This one has the two No. 1 seeds in the playoffs and arguably baseball’s two biggest brands. We’re going to find out the ratings pretty soon, but — spoiler alert — they’re going to be very high compared to any recent World Series. To all the casual fans out there who rarely watch baseball: It isn’t always this awesome, but the 2024 World Series was always bound to deliver and then some. These are great and relatively evenly matched teams.
