The Little League World Series is back for the third edition since it changed to a 20-team tournament. Ten teams from the U.S. and 10 international teams from around the world will close out their summers with a chance to etch their names in Little League lore.

The state champions (as well as the Northern California, Southern California, Texas East, Texas West, and District of Columbia teams) compete in one of ten different regional tournaments (increasing from 8 in 2022). Each regional tournament winner then advances to the Little League World Series. A comprehensive breakdown of current and historical US regional tournament locations, participants and results is available online. Game around the world

I have several memory/matching games and this is one of my students’ favorites. They are charmed by the variety of ethnic clothing and backgrounds. The pictures make them happy. The number of cards allows for an ever-expanding experience: start with a few cards to teach the skill, and increase the number used as their memories improve. Very good quality.

The winner advances to the next player. The player that lost sits back down in his seat. Call another two numbers for the next two players to add. Whoever wins moves on to face his next opponent, while the other sits back down. The first player to go all the way around the room and get back to his original starting point is the winner.

This game has always stressed me out because of several reasons: 1) Having to move around with the students to show the cards and not being able to really monitor the whole class. 2) Students shouting out a bunch of different answers just to try to be first. 3) Having to wait so long until a student finally makes it back to their original seat.
